THE FILMMAKING PROCESS!! JIGSAW PIECE No:10
You know why things go wrong? Because we'll know the difference when they're right.
:)

..and then fell this piece..

Not a dog’s day
(Ok, this post is atleast 2 weeks old, just found the time.) Perhaps the highlight of today is sitting at a coffee shop
in the second floor of a shopping mall, in ‘mid-town’ Chennai and sipping on a
cappuccino and looking out the glass window at the rain-mud-and-filth soaked
traffic below. I neither feel pity nor wear a smug smile as I witness the
rat-race because it really hasn’t been long since I was in the sludge, wading
through murky waters which are obviously a result of our freakin awesome
drainage system. Don’t get me wrong when I say that I’m in the shopping mall
and contemplating life in such elite quarters. Mind you, I’m not a fucking
elite, though I can be and sometimes act like one(and that’s a whole different
argument altogether) just to empathize with things on both sides of the spectrum.
I just freaking hate mindless consumerism but I will hate it from inside a
glitzy shopping mall. I’m a minimalist, a bloody local with thoughts verging on
the extreme. On the rare instances I will pay Rs.90 for a coffee with which I
can sit comfortably in a lounge-like ambience for more than a couple of hours trying to make sense of Dito Montiel’s interview in Filmmaker mag or Arundhati
Roy’s incendiary ‘Shape of the Beast’(ok I ain't going for pretense there). As I wait for the guys to get back, I thought, ok fine, with all the commotion
outside and inside my head, lemme vent out stuff.
Why is today not a dog’s
day? Well, then don’t ask me if every other day is a dog day. Not for me, it’s
not. Today, as with any other day I travel/commute, I witnessed about a 150
dogs, bitches, bitches with babies inside them and pups scattered all around in
the rain doing what they would normally do. Experience a ‘dog’s life’. Having the
life of an ‘underdog’. Spending a Dog day afternoon. Groundhog day. See? More
references. No wonder we termed it so. (ok so groundhog doesn’t have anything
to do with a dog but still they sound the same)And today was more than normal
for them, especially with the cold and almost omnipresent uncertainty that the
rains bring with them. And earlier in the day, before we came to Chennai, we
had to transport 5 wet, shivering pups (who’d been taken away from their
mother) from the soggy paddy fields to our humble abode in the village. Back to
the 150 canines, their faces were so full of implication, that I could write a
page each about what they were thinking. I mean, if they actually do. Or do
they just live in the moment? Taking each day as it came? Surprisingly, many of
our human kind seemed to have the same expression, or were they worse? Can’t
tell. Really. But these days, my guess is we humans are becoming pathetic in
more ways than one. So, pretty soon, to say, ‘it’s a dog’s day’ will become NOT
a bad thing after all. Because, as people, especially as Indians, we suffer
more than we can endure. No I take that back. We suffer uhh…more than what we
think we can endure(coz we can endure shit-just-about-anything), but as we get
accustomed to that, we reach the next phase of suffering and we endure that too
and the chain continues. So henceforth, thou shall pat each other in the backs,
in congratulatory delight, because we love to revel in our hopelessly romantic
status as sufferers. (pic from google)

Do you express yourself enough??
I find myself at some points in life...
where i have to this urge to release my thoughts....
in some way or the other...
otherwise the thoughts rush by themselves,
to jump off the cliff of my mouth...
out into the world...
and in that hurry, most of them vaporize into the ether...
some of them just lie within waiting for the right time...
and eventually get swallowed by the ever thirsty physical being that lies in me...
the hunger for thoughts never dies..
what an irony that we hardly express whatever we feel...
either for the fear of crossing limits...
or for the good of the other...
or to find a way to stop ourselves into getting into unknown spaces...
or thinking we are independent of the rest...
or to prioritize our responsibilities...
or judge everything by over analysing...
well....i could go on and on...
but the question is...
ARE YOU EXPRESSING YOURSELF ENOUGH?
to people you love...
to people you admire...
to people you are angry with...
to people who need you..
to people who seek help..
to people who might help you...
to people...and nature...and everything around?
since language was formed because the connectedness was pushed to obscurity...
we have to seriously think of communication...and EXPRESSION!

Braveheart Blog..another part of the whole!
I was touched by this soul's expressive nature...please take some time and read the whole article..
Braveheart writes in his blogspot....
I was very disturbed. Sometimes things just go out of your hands. Sometimes, you are simply forced to act in an un-reasonable way. Its inexplicable but at times, life just takes control over you. You show emotions which are not yours. You act in a way, which has not been you way. Something like this had happened with me last night.
Telelvision was on and the regular nonsense was being broadcasted. My fingers were playing with the remote. The window was open and cool breeze was gushing through my hair. I was looking out of the window at my garden. The roses had grown really beautiful. Amrita was a mother to these plants more than she was to our Rahul. Not that she was a bad mother, not at all, but the plants gor a special share of her heart. Probably, the love for them came out of a corner of her heart whcih I could never explore. The red roses were teasing me. They reminded me of the time I was crowned to be a prince, the prince who was to taste the luscious lips of the princess, Amrita.

Corporate Plagiarism?
When an individual steals content (or anything) from a corporation, he/she is brought down to their knees and made to pay for the 'crime'. But when a corporation does it to an individual, then the issue is swept under the carpet and conveniently forgotten. I for one believe in open sourcing of information, free usage of information by anybody, but when someone(especially a corporation who are the torch-bearers of the concept of copyright violations) crosses a certain line by lifting content from an independent person, saying the original work is theirs, without crediting the content creator, then it should be dealt with seriously, which is exactly what's happening now.
In regard to the story below where the Yahoo India(malayalam) portal has purportedly stolen content from an independent blogger Suryagayathri at Karivepilla,
Check out the reactions from the blogger community who are raising their voices against corporate plagiarism. There is a Protest happening today March 5th, 2007 against this copyright violation where Yahoo India is being asked to either issue an apology or compensate for the use of the independent blogger's content.

Yahoo India launched a beta version of their Malayalam (an Indian Language) portal and what do they do to fill their pages? Lift content just straight from small web magazines and blogs without asking a word or adequately compensating for those. What a shame! For more related links on the issue, visit http://sajithvk.blogspot.com/2007/03/protest-aganist-plagiarisation-of-yahoo.html
We all like the idea of giants like Yahoo launching multiple Indian language portals. But that doesn’t give Yahoo India the right to lift contents, word by word and put those on their Malayalam portal.
View Suryagayathri's food blog.
They have copied some(6 and counting) of her recipes word by word. The only thing is that they changed the picture. What an easy way to cook up a portal. I can only laugh and sympathize at their confidence that their portal wont be read :). What other reason to copy contents?

What a Century!
Ok ok, thank you, thank you! This is our 100th POST. We owe it to the fast growing Technology, and we have tried to reach out to the whole world, but at our own pace.
We have shared and received knowledge and we look forward to doing a lot more in the coming years. Starting on August 23rd, 2006, we've had a wide range of articles and posts which we shared with the world around us. Though we have dealt with a lot of issues like Global Warming, Air Pollution, Nuclear weapons, Social Issues, Peace, Nature, Music, Kids, Current Events, Photography, etc. We still feel that there is a lot more in this world that needs to be explored.
There is a saying in Tamil, “ Katrathu Kaialavu, Kallaathathu Ulagalavu”
It means whatever knowledge gained is just size of the hand and whatever has to be learned is as big as this world!
So, there is a long way to go. And we hope that more people will join us in this journey of unraveling knowledge from this vast universe. Folks, as the world is getting smaller and smaller through technology, make use of this by sharing whatever you feel, know and think. Opinions, thoughts, questions, answers, whatever!
Three cheers to Blogging and the Internet(the one we've taken for granted)!

Thoughts and Expressions...
This is a topic on alienation and this particular paragraph from the book "Marx's Concept of Man written by Erich Fromm and it shows so much depth that I cannot even explain how overwhelmed I was when I read it...
Karl Marx says,
"Among the many forms of alienation, the most frequent one is the alienation in language. If I express a feeling with a word, let us say, I love you, the word is meant to be an indication of the reality which exists within myself, the power of my loving. The word "love" is meant to be a symbol of the fact love, but as soon as it is spoken it tends to assume a life of its own, it becomes a reality. I am under the illusion that the saying of the word is the equivalent of the experience, and soon I say the word and feel nothing, except the thought of love, which the word expresses. The alienation of language shows the whole complexity of alienation. Language is one of the most precious human achievements; to avoid alienation by not speaking would be foolish; yet one must be always aware of the danger of the spoken word, that it threatens to substitute itself for the living experience. The same holds true for all other achievements of man: ideas, art, any kind of man-made objects. They are man's creations; they are valuable aids for life yet each one of them is also a trap, a temptation to confuse life with things, experience with artifacts, feeling with surrender and submission."
Please also do refer the September post on Language and expression. Expression is the most essential part of human life and living and is very much needed in the surrent scenario...
